Zonya Helps Thousands Go D.I.E.T. F.R.E.E.
Ditching the diet mentality and helping every person discover a healthy lifestyle they can actually live with is exactly what my two-night D.I.E.T. F.R.E.E. Health Series is all about. The next series will be offered March 22 and 29 at the Christian Family Centre in Adrian, Michigan.
This series presents my eight D.I.E.T. F.R.E.E. habits that will help you lose weight, lower your cholesterol and blood pressure, help prevent or manage type 2 diabetes, and ditch the diet mentality forever. These eight habits aren’t a “diet.” They define a healthy lifestyle that you can life with the rest of your life.
“After attending Zonya’s D.I.E.T. F.R.E.E. series in January,” said Ruth Woodard of Onsted, “I walked away believing I can do this! Zonya’s habits have stuck with me better than any other program.”
Once you’ve attended the series, you really get that this is NOT a diet you “go on” for two weeks or a month. After attending the series in January, Kay Miller called to tell me that this series really opened her eyes. She’s reading nutrition labels and just paying closer attention to eating more “natural” and less “processed” foods. She and her husband Doug have already lost 10 pounds each and neither of them felt like they were on the dreaded “diet.”
Penny from Ypsilanti also gets it. Her email said, “I have been drinking more water, eating a fruit or veggie with EVERY MEAL and working on some of the other healthy habits. You have really inspired me to stick to it, make new health changes to my life. Like you keep saying [Zonya], it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change.”
And think before you drink anything else.
Speaking of drinking more water, “Drink Water and think before you drink anything else,” is the first habit I talk about in my D.I.E.T. F.R.E.E. series. Water is the body’s most important nutrient. It provides the healthy internal car wash you need for better concentration, fighting diseases and flushing fat. It’s also important to think before you drink anything else because studies show that people underestimate the number of calories they drink by as much as 30 percent. My new friend and audience volunteer, David, learned that his daily dose of Mountain Dew was adding up to 225 cups of sugar by the end of one year! That’s the equivalent of THREE giant water bottles shown in the photo above! Needless to say, I was sooooo happy to learn that David immediately started making important changes to his beverage habits the very next day!
Staying hydrated WITHOUT the calories!
If you overdo drinkable calories, this alone can account for 5 to 50 pounds of the extra weight you may be carrying around. Think I’m exaggerating? You tell me…
|8-oz glass of orange juice||100|
|2 cups coffee with cream & sugar||100|
|12-oz fruit drink||220|
|Glass of wine (5 oz) or Light Beer (12 oz)||100|
|Water (good for you!)||0|
|Total Liquid Calories in ONE Day||1180 calories!|
Four strategies for drinking more water while managing your liquid calories:
• For one week, keep a daily log of how many calories you “drink.” Adjust your habit so your liquid calories (not counting the 2 to 4 cups of skim milk or soy milk recommended per day) are no more than 200 calories per day.
• That same week, keep a daily log of how much water you drink. Make a habit of drinking ½ ounce of water a day for every pound you weigh. That’s 75 ounces (nearly 9½ cups) for a person weighing 150 pounds. Drink throughout the day using one glass every hour as a guideline.
• Get in the habit of carrying a water bottle with you and keep one in the car and one at your desk.
• Start each morning with a least 8-16 ounces of water to hydrate as soon as you begin the day – before having a caffeinated beverage or juice.
